A Little About Me
My name is Julie Wilmer and I became a teacher because I love kids, love learning, and love education. I am delighted to be teaching at at Eden Park Academy. The school's core missions and values, as well as the International Baccalaureate program, are completely in line with my style and my teaching beliefs.
My classroom is one of rigorous academics, project based learning, and social and emotional development. Students work as a whole class, teams, and partnerships to explore our surroundings. Class is held both in this classroom, as well as outside around campus.
Our class culture is that of positivity, support, and acceptance. Effort, hard work, and positive attitudes are acknowledged and valued. In the classroom we hold regular conversations about kindness, teamwork, and being open-minded. As a class, we understand that success is dependent upon providing all students what they need individually to succeed. As such, we embrace and celebrate both our similarities and our differences.

Though I have lived all over the world, I grew up primarily in Massachusetts. I am the daughter and granddaughter of a teacher; all together there are 9 teachers in my family (3 of whom are 6th grade teachers)!
An exciting, diverse, and winding road has led me to teaching. I graduated from Gettysburg College (PA) with a Liberal Arts degree in Native American Studies, Art History, and Environmental Studies, which reflects my constant study of peoples and their relationship to place. I spent some years as a National Park Ranger in 4 of our nation’s parks biggest parks, and I have worked in the law field, as well as an event director. I hold certifications as both an Early Childhood - 6th grade Educator, Generalist, as well as EC - 6 Special Education
